What Is RIK?
RIK Youth Services Incorporated is a non-profit organisation that seeks to exist for the Hungarian youth community in Australia and is based at the Hungarian Community Centre in Melbourne (Melbourne-i Magyar Ház). RIK began operations as the Rákóczi Ifjúsági Klub (RIK), over 10 years ago, and it still maintains the same name in Hungarian.

Here are a couple of pictures of the Magyar Haz where RIK is situated.

RIK exists to serve two very important purposes. Firstly, we try to help the Hungarian youth community to grow in strength and number and to create unity among the Hungarian youth all over Australia. We try and preserve the Hungarian culture in Australia by providing services that attempt to bring together young Hungarians in a safe and friendly environment. This growth and unity will result in a youth community that is able to sustain itself to eventually support the next generation of Australian-Hungarians. The second purpose that RIK fulfils is to provide help to those young people that really need impartial and non-judgmental assistance to get them through the hardest parts of life.

The Magyar Haz surroundings and buildings really are something to admire.

The success that we have in achieving our goals depends a lot on the participation of the community and the support that we receive. It is crucial for the community to believe in the importance of our goals and to believe in the ability that RIK has to achieve those goals. It is equally important that we reach as much of the community as possible, so we can represent the voice and concerns of as many of the Hungarian youth as possible.

How Does RIK Operate?
RIK is run entirely by volunteers, who donate their time to work at RIK and the functions that RIK organise. That means that every cent that RIK raises goes back towards helping the Hungarian youth community. We receive pure satisfaction in seeing fellow Hungarians enjoy themselves and telling us about their great experiences at the events. All the proceeds from the functions that we hold ultimately get returned to the community, in facilities that members can use, like the RIK Club Room.

RIK is managed and run, on a day-to-day basis, by the volunteers of the Executive Committee. In addition, the Executive Committee is supported by a large number of volunteers that make up the Honoured Committee.

RIK currently maintains several service entities that provide various services to the Hungarian youth, primarily in Melbourne but also throughout Australia. These include YoungHuns, the Australian-Hungarian youth website, RIK Táncosai (RIK-T), a modern dance group and the Táncdalfesztivál Working Group, which help organise and coordinate the nationwide song festival.
