Happy Birthday To...

What's New?
The website has been a bit quiet in recent times. This would be mainly due to the holiday season and general lack of activity in the Hungarian community. There is however, a new Prize Draw in preparation for the V-Tech Koncert. The Prize Draw consists of V-Tech's latest CDs. The exact details aren't available as yet, but will be posted as soon as they arrive. Also, congratulations go to our last Prize Draw winner, LiL_ToTh, who won the signed MC Hawer & Tekkno CDs!

I'd like to start off by wishing all the YoungHuns members a very Merry Christmas and a safe, prosperous and productive new year for 2005. Look after yourselves this festive season and be sure to spend some time with the people that you love. In wake of the Boxing Day tragedy in Asia, our heart goes out to those affected by this disaster. Words cannot describe the epic scale of this catastrophe and on behalf of RIK and YoungHuns we wish the people who have lost loved ones our deepest condolences.

Being involved with children and youth affairs, we at RIK Youth Services Inc. have donated $200 to the Save the Children Australia charity organisation that will go towards helping the thousands of vulnerable children now orphaned by this tragedy. We also encourage everyone to dig deep to help with this relief effort.
On a lighter note, although this time of the year is usually spent in hibernation (hibernation from the Hungarian community), Kek Duna & DMSZ have been busy bees preparing for the V-Tech Koncert on Saturday 5th February 2005! V-Tech is one of the hottest acts to come out from Hungary with 5 platinum albums and 13 hit singles! Don't miss their one and only concert in Melbourne! For more details, ticket bookings and your chance to download their songs, click here. There is also a new Prize Draw, once again courtesy of KDDMSZ. It includes the latest V-Tech CDs in time for their Australian visit in February. Prize will be drawn at the end of this month.
Finally, YoungHuns has its own Chat Room which is now open and ready to use! When you log into the website, you will notice a new InfoBox on the left-hand side which tells you who is in the Chat Room. Late at night our members usually come out to play. See you there!

Is it ever possible for a group of females to go out and have a good night without being approached by strange people? In my opinion it isn't. No matter how often I go out with my girlfriends, we are annoyed by the weirdos. Granted we hang out in Ferntree Gully, which may be the root of our problem, but as far as I'm concerned where we are shouldn't be an issue.
A few weeks ago, while we were minding our own business and playing pool, these
|
two guys came up to us and wouldn't leave us alone. They wanted to play a game of pool with us, so we took our sweet time and they finally walked off, or so we thought. We finished our game and went and sat down to talk, when who should approach us, that's right the two highly unattractive guys who wouldn't leave us alone until we played a game of pool with them. It was highly uncomfortable especially when the long haired guy kept touching my arm and then at one stage he grabbed me and pulled me close to him. Frightening? Yes, very!!!! Just once I would like to go out and not be harassed by deluded people think it is alright to grab females and not get the hint that their presence is not wanted.

RIK closed shop on the 10th of December and will resume business as usual in the middle of this month. On the Friday following our last meeting, RIK held their annual Christmas Party at the Korona Restaurant as an excuse to get together with friends and eat and drink excessively. The night was fantastic and was a good way to wrap up and close the year.
The New Year will bring about some changes to the RIK committee as there will be
|
a number of new incoming committee members. Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for the end of this month so there's sure to be a bit of shuffling and appointment of positions.
As a whole, 2004 was quite disappointing for RIK. The number of events we organised was at our lowest and our attendance records for the events we did organise were also at their lowest. This low affected the morale of the entire committee and hindered on our motivation at times. People often complained that they wanted things organised, but when it came down to it, we didn't get the turn out anticipated. But 2005 will be an attempt to bounce back and get things back on track.
So be sure to support the club that supports you. The best way to do this is to get involved!
