Editorial The YoungHuns Monthly Newsletter hasn't been so monthly in recent times, and we apologise for its absence from July through to October. The reason it was put on hold was because of RIK's preparations for the 2004 Melbourne Táncdalfesztivál. The biggest event on our calendar is a mammoth project that totally exhausts the committee and helpers involved. However, the night was a huge success and congratulations go out to the winners and participants. Check out the Photo Gallery for some pictures of the night.

In other news in the Australian-Hungarian Community, MC Hawer & Tekkno made their second trip to Australia and toured the country in October. Following the success of their first concert in Australia in 2001 and their magnitude of hits, their appearance on the 2nd of October in Melbourne attracted records crowds and proved to be a great night.

RIK is undergoing some changes in the committee due to members leaving and pursuing greater things in life. Our thanks go out to Monika Szilagyi who has put so much effort into being an active participant and contributor of the Executive Committee at RIK and Coordinator/Choreographer of RIK-T. Without her commitment and endless hours of work, RIK and all its Service Entities wouldn't be as they are today. We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavours. On the same note, we'd also like to welcome Daniella Sebestyen from Canberra to the YoungHuns team. We're on a drive to get Canberra and the rest of the states more involved!

Finally, there is a new Prize Draw courtesy of KDDMSZ and YoungHuns. Due to MC Hawer & Tekkno's recent visit, we have 2 of their latest CDs to giveaway! For your chance to win Mikor a vodka a fejembe száll... and Kimegyek a temetőbe, enter the draw! Prize Draw closes 30th November 2004.

Angie's Antics Hipster jeans, what else can I say but a fashion craze for a few years now. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bagging them, just some of the people that don't know how to wear them. For the well-educated person, it can be seen that hipster jeans only really suit people who have a slimmer figure. Personally, I don't wear them, a few reasons:
  1. I don't have the figure for it.
  2. My grand mother would chase after me with a wooden spoon (and a cardigan) if I went out of the house exposing my lower back.
  3. And finally I prefer my jeans a little higher.
Now some girls who are around a size 14 can pull it off, but come on I've seen some girls that look like the muffins that you buy in the bakery. The muffin look: a hideous side effect from hipster jeans. For those who don't get what I'm talking about, it's where the jeans are too tight and the flab just hangs over giving the illusion of a walking muffin.

Unfortunately, down in Bourke Street Mall you can see them there and they come in a baker's dozen as well. Honestly, the day they bought those jeans either the shop assistant was told to sell the stock or they'll be fired, or the girl who bought the jeans is in desperate need of some glasses.

So please girls heed my warning, next time you try on a pair of hipster jeans, look at yourself in every angle. If you look great in them, then more power to you, but if you have your stomach just bulging over and you look like a plumber (you know what I'm talking about) just put them back on the hanger, and say thanks but no thanks!!

RIK Update Hey boys and girls! Greetings from RIK's brand-spanking new Secretary Angie!

RIK has been extremely busy these past few weeks as we are focused on recruiting new committee members for a fresh start to 2005. Unfortunately we will be loosing some very valuable members like Monika Szilagyi for instance, who will be sailing through the Caribbean with her new job on the Disney cruise ship. We have had to brainstorm some ideas for new members: people who we think would have the
commitment, energy and drive to take on a role as important as this.

While many of you may think that RIK have now entered the hibernation stage, I can strongly assure you this isn't the case. From past experiences we have realised that perhaps our YoungHuns members are growing out of dance-parties and other similar functions. We have also been quite disappointed at the turnouts to more recent events such as the Hetvegi Laz A Koronaban that was organised to provide an alternative to discos and dance-parties of previous years. The aim was to get our members to meet-and-greet one another, as that was what you guys told us you wanted!!!! So here's some food for thought: if you come to our events then you can meet new people, make new friends and maybe even find yourself a new love interest... who knows! But you do have to show face for this to happen!

Our next project is headed in a direction that we have not yet been. With hopes, a family day with food, drinks, entertainment, games and activities for everyone to enjoy can be looked forward to during early 2005. We ask for your support in attending and enjoying this and other exciting functions that we organise, as the survival of RIK and the Hungarian culture in Australia is heavily dependent on it. We would also love to hear about your ideas and interests, so don't be afraid to drop us a line, or approach a committee member if you see one of us floating around. Hoping to see you and hear from you all soon!

Angela Juhasz
Secretary

YoungHuns Feature
This month's YoungHuns Feature is the Featured Member. Every now and again, we will hunt down a lucky YoungHuns member and interrogate them with ridiculous, controversial, and very personal questions! If you wish to have a bit of fun and volunteer yourself to be the next Featured Member, then e-mail the Site Administrator with your intention.

RIK-T News
RIK-T News
Well beautiful people... the time is drawing near. Sadly, RIK-T's long service leave will be coming up very soon. I will be heading off to the Bahamas cruising the Caribbean for 4.5 months (work related). There will be one final performance for this year on the 13th of November 2004 at the Ballago Bal where RIK-T will be strutting their James Bond stuff!!! If anyone has any interest in applying for the position of RIK-T Coordinator and/or Choreographer, and you have a bit of experience up your sleave & a lot of patience, please contact me (Monika Szilagyi) on 0405 037 637 or on the e-mail. In the meantime, keep smiling and keep dancing. Szia Szia!!
